Obituary for Alice Laverne Wellman
Funeral services for Alice Laverne Smith Wellman will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23, 2017, at Laurel Hill Baptist Church, 1796 Laurel Hill Road Leesville, with Reverends Sherman Busby, Shawn Waggoner, Wesley Jackson, and Dale Poe officiating. Burial will follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Mrs. Wellman was born on January 3, 1930, in Leander, LA and passed away at home on October 21, 2017, at the age of 87. After graduating from Simpson High School, she married Martin David Wellman Jr. and became a homemaker and a great worker in the church. They lived in Baton Rouge for a while, then after returning to the LaCamp community, she became a member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Wellman was known for her delicious cooking and canning. She would cook for every occasion. Watching her children and grandchildren play ball and just spending time together was what she enjoyed the most.
Preceding her in death were her parents, John Bert Smith and Sylvia Morrison Smith and her sister, Leola Hagan.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 70 years, Martin “Jr.” Wellman

Sister: Olita Boswell of Leeville, LA
Grandchildren: Shane, Bubba, Crissy, Jeffrey, Jessica, Alison, and Holly
Great grandchildren: Alaina, Ally, Mattie, Austin, Lilly, Emily, Dalton, Jackson, Alex, Andi, Addison, Trenton, and Kynsley.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Wellman, Shane Wellman, Mike Chaney, Frankie McCauley, Bubba Leggett, Austin Wellman, Trenton Leggett.
