Obituary for Alexa Earl Boyette
A memorial service honoring the life of Alexa Stothart Boyette will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches, LA. A visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Her death occurred on May 11, 2022, in Leesville, LA. Interment at Springville Cemetery in Coushatta, LA will follow the memorial service.
Alexa was born on March 26, 1931, in Shreveport, LA to Robert Alex Stothart and Emily Brown Stothart, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by a brother, William Robert Stothart and her second husband, Bill G. Boyette. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Mark Kramar; son and daughter-in-law, John Steven and Cathy Osborne; two beloved granddaughters, Allison Craft and Kristen Rebecca Osborne; eleven (11) great-grandchildren; and two sisters and their husbands, Emily and Archie Worsham and Joy and Edgar Gaddis.
Alexa spent her childhood in Coushatta, LA, living there continuously until she enrolled in college at Northwestern State University. She graduated from NSU with a Bachelor of Science degree and later earned the Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA. Following in her mother’s footsteps, she devoted her entire working life to helping people. She worked for more than thirty years in the field of social work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and was a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. Her career began in child protective services and teaching. Her profession was extremely important to her, and she felt called to this service in this profession.
Her church was a very meaningful part of her life. She was always a United Methodist and took a very active part in church related activities and other spiritual matters. She helped to establish the Stephen Ministry in her church and was active in Kids’ Hope, Intercessory Ministry, and Eucharistic Ministry. In her early adult years, she taught Sunday School and participated in other children’s activities with her children.
Alexa had membership in P.E.O. Chapter AP, Society of Mayflower Descendants, American Legion Auxiliary, and Friends of the Library.
Because she was engaged in a profession which took so much of her time and energy, she wondered how she had managed to rear such wonderful children. She always knew that they were exactly the children she wanted, that they were truly God’s gift and that it was with His help that they became the people they are.
Alexa’s friends were truly cherished, and they cherished her. Her family wishes to thank them for their loving support and concern. For those wishing to make memorial gifts, contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Natchitoches or to the Nature Conservancy are suggested.
