Obituary for Albert Numa "Duppie" Gabro
A graveside service for Albert Numa “Duppie” Gabro will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2019, in Leesville Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.
Mr. Gabro was born on January 1, 1932, and passed away on September 26, 2019, at the age of 87. He was born and raised in Leesville and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Masters in Physics Degree from LSU in Baton Rouge. At that time, a Masters in Physics was almost unheard of. Upon graduation, he was hired by General Dynamics in Fort Worth, TX and worked on top secret experimental aircraft for the United States Government contract. After several years of intense work and surveillance, he suffered a mental breakdown. The family moved him back to Leesville where he cared for his Mom until her death. Mr. Gabro was an active member and loved his church, St. Michaels Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mae Gabro and his sister, Beulah Mae Gabro Pinson. Surviving him are his older brother, Leon H. “Buddy” Gabro and his four nieces and nephews, Gayla, Lisa, Gary and Mark. We want to thank the church members that visited him often and took food, and especially the visits these last months at The Woodlands. Also, thanks to the staff at The Woodlands. Lastly, a very special thanks to his niece and primary caregiver, Cathy Bennett. He loved her visits and the constant stash of Lil Debbie cakes and chocolate milk. Donations or floral gifts can be made to St. Michaels Catholic Church.
