Obituary for Adell `McConathy McCullough

Funeral services for Adell McConathy McCullough will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at Good Hope Baptist Church. The burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service. The pallbearers will be Kal Laviolette, Kris McKoin, Chad McCullough, Ethan Thornton, Justin Maricle, and Jerome Maricle.

A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday, April 5th beginning at 5:00 p.m. and will continue until the time of service on Thursday.

Adell entered her eternal resting place on April 2, 2023, at the age of 94 years, 4 months, and 18 days. She was born November 15, 1928, to Tol and Gladys Hale McConathy. She graduated from Orange High School in 1945 and went to work in Houston as a secretary for American Insurance Company. Adell worked in Galveston and Leesville as a telephone operator. In 1947, she married Bobby and was married for 51 years. She served faithfully as a pastor’s wife for 41 of those years. Adell enjoyed canning, picking berries and figs, cooking, crocheting, and watching television – especially The Price Is Right. She loved word finds, reading, good gospel singing, going to church, and spending time with her family.

Adell was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby McCullough; parents; and sister, Lazel.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Randell (Judy) McCullough of Moss Bluff, LA;

daughter, Janell (Jerome) Maricle of Leesville, LA;

grandchildren, Candace (Kal) Laviolette of Lafayette, LA, Michelle (Kris) McKoin of Moss Bluff, Chad (Heather) McCullough of Minden, LA, Justin (Brianna) Maricle of Leesville, and Janae (Ethan) Thornton of Moss Bluff;

great-grandchildren, Emma, Anna, & Camille Laviolette, Madden, Mia, & Miller McKoin, Miles, Brooks, Hayes, & Reeves McCullough, and Maverick Thornton;

sister, Charlotte (Joe) Gay of Anacoco, LA;

and extended family members and friends.
