Ada Marie, the daughter of Wallace and Oma Lea Spears and stepdaughter of Robert H. Scott, was born on April 12, 1933, in Leesville, LA. She passed away on Sunday, October 17th at Byrd Hospital in Leesville, LA at the age of 88 years, 6 months, and 5 days.
Ada Marie was a member of Family Worship Center for the last 56 years. She taught Sunday School and helped cook meals for church fellowships and events for many years. Ada was a cafeteria worker at Pickering High School, worked at Ben Franklin, and owned and ran Four Seasons Gift Shop. In her retirement years, she enjoyed her work in the Garden Center as a door greeter at Walmart.
Ada Marie loved the outdoors, especially with her grandsons, Jeremy and Rodney. They hunted arrowheads and collected rocks. Ada Marie loved to travel with her husband Melvin and their friends exploring various states and sightseeing. She was known for her sweet kind personality, always putting others first, and showing her love to her family and friends. She always had a home-cooked meal prepared for her family during holidays, birthdays, and for Sunday dinner. Some of the best memories the family shares today are due to her always providing a welcoming atmosphere that drew friends and family to her home. During the last few years her daily focus was on knowing what was going on in the lives of her sons, daughters-in-law, grandsons and their wives, and her four great-grandchildren. Her God and her family were her life!
Ada was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Spears and Oma Lea Spears Scott; stepfather, Robert H. Scott; daughter, Lisa Marie Wilson; and her husband, Melvin Wilson.
She is survived by her sons, Wallace Wilson and wife Vickie of Leesville; Al Wilson and wife Renee of Leesville; grandsons, Jeremy Wilson and wife Ann of Arlington, Virginia; Rodney Wilson and wife Genevieve of Leesville; and great-grandchildren, William Wilson, Charles Wilson, Kayla Wilson, and Scott Wilson all of Leesville; sister-in-law, Donnis Shirley of Portland, Oregon.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Wilson, Rodney Wilson, William Wilson, Gary Wilson, Mike Moses, and John Kunkel. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Reese, Wilburn “Dub” Williams, and John Hatcher.
