Obituary for Craig Jeane
Craig Jeane went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 21, 2018, from his residence in Slagle, LA. Craig’s Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24th, at Slagle Baptist Church with Reverends Greg Blackwell and Glen Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in Castor Cemetery under the direction of Jeane’s Funeral Service.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23rd at Slagle Baptist and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Craig was born August 8, 1949, in Leesville, LA and passed away at the age of 68. He graduated from Leesville in 1968 and attended Louisiana State University for 2 years where he worked and lived in the Ag. Barn. Craig enjoyed competing in rodeo events such as bareback and steer wrestling. He started clowning for rodeos in college and was selected to clown for PRCA events. It was through rodeos that he met the love of his life, Mary. They were married in 1975 and lived in Houston for ten years.

He was a kindhearted and generous man who loved to hunt, fish, and cook with/for family and friends. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were the “apples of his eye” and fondly called him “Pawpaw Rooster.” Craig was a member of Slagle Baptist Church and worked for the East Central Vernon Water Department for over 20 years.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Bill” and Elizabeth Jeane; brother, Jimmie Dale Jeane. Carrying on his legacy are his wife of 42 years, Mary Richardson Jeane; daughter, Kimberleigh and husband C.B. Welch; brother, Tommy and wife Patty Jeane; grandchildren, Samuel Craig, Abigail, and Joshua Welch; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Clemons, Gary Dowden, Ken Paxton, Tony Jeane, Mitch Jeane, and Alex Jeane. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Craig Welch, Joshua Welch, Jimmy Funderburk, and Dennis Karmales.

The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Gregory Lord, Blane Perry, Kevin Soileau, and a long-time family friend, Felecia Coffey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Craig’s memory to Gideons International.
